Do u ever wanted to block any website on your computer , parents try to prevent porn website being watched by their ward , students need to block the collage website , so that parent don't view their results ,
follow the procedures
using using windows explorer go to
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
in that folder there exist a file called hosts , open that file with the help of wordpad or notepad , the file initially looks like
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
now after the end of the file add the line
127.0.0.1 www.websitetoblock.com
i.e
127.0.0.1 www.google.com
save the file
now try to visit the site , you will get error message !!!
Note:
for Windows 7 users , you need administrator privilege to save the file ,
so either disable your UAC , by launching msconfig.exe in run command and in tools tab select change UAC settings and reduce the level in the slide bar to never notify , then restart the computer , and now try to modify the conf file and save it .
